Western North Carolina was devastated by hurricane Helene and I was in Boone for all of it. Growing up on the East coast I thought I knew what to expect when we found out we’d be hit by a hurricane, but nothing could have prepared me for the insanity the storm brought. I have never seen water levels so high with my own eyes, and the destruction of the town I have been calling home was very hard to see. I brought my camera out during and after the storm to document what had happened to the town as well as to my own car.
